Change

Getting ready to move again has been unexpectedly emotional. I have lived here with the family since Thanksgiving and have enjoyed every bit of it. (really, I have) I knew that it would be hard leaving. And sure enough, it started to get hard just the other day. I should preface this little story by saying that Kenz loves to play “hide the money” games around my room when we are hanging out. She hides quarters in my shoes, under my shirts, in magazines and under Doggie Welch and I go around the room and find them. It’s tons of fun! This game has taken on various forms, and rules and sometimes there are even prizes, and it’s not just limited to the quarters. Some days it’s about making piles of change, and some days I have found all of the change in my sock drawer.

So, the other day I am with a friend and I go to put my cell phone in it’s pocket in my purse and I notice that it doesn’t quite fit. Hmmm, weird, but whatever. About an hour later, after using my phone, I return it to the pocket and notice it’s awkward fit again. This time I look and realize there is about 98 cents in random change in the bottom of this pocket in my purse.

Kenz

My darling little Mackenzy.

Things like this make this move the hardest so far.

Oh yeah, and she loves to have breakfast with Auntie in the morning. Our favorites are yogurt, granola and raisins or homemade smoothies. Kim is a little worried that Kenz won’t be eating much breakfast after I leave…but I think that Kenz has a pretty good handle on the blender and will be able to whip up a mean smoothie anytime she wants to, and definitely the next time Auntie comes over for breakfast.
